Global search
Find any task, project, or client — and jump to any page — from one search box, without leaving the screen you're on.
Overview
Global search is the fastest way to get to something. Open it from anywhere, type a few letters of what you're looking for, and it finds matching tasks, projects, and clients — plus shortcuts to the app's main pages. Pick a record and it opens in a side panel right where you are; pick a page and it takes you there.
There's one search box, in the top bar of every screen. It looks like a search field with a magnifier and the Ctrl + K hint — but you don't type in it directly: click it (or press the shortcut) and the search opens. On a narrow screen it shrinks to just the magnifier icon.
Open search at any time with Ctrl + K (⌘ + K on a Mac), by clicking the search box in the top bar, or from your account menu at the bottom of the sidebar.
What you can find
Tasks
By subject or description — including finished and blocked ones.
Projects
By name, client, or description.
Clients
By name or description.
Pages
Jump straight to a section — the board, projects, settings, and more.
Searching
Open search — click the search box in the top bar or press Ctrl + K. Before you type, you'll see your recent tasks, projects, and clients, along with shortcuts to the main pages.
Start typing. After two characters, matching records appear in a single list, most relevant first. Matching pages are grouped under Go to.
Pick a result. A task, project, or client opens in the side panel over your current screen. A page navigates you there.
How results are ranked
Everything appears in one list, ordered by relevance — a match on a name or subject ranks above a match found only in a description. Each result shows enough context to tell similar items apart:
- a task shows its project and client, and whether it's open, finished, or blocked;
- a project shows its client and status;
- a client shows whether it's active.
Search is forgiving: it ignores accents and capitalization (typing reuniao finds "Reunião") and matches partial words (propos finds "Revisar proposta"). You don't need to spell things exactly, but it doesn't fix bigger typos.
The page you're on comes first
When you search from a page with a clear focus, results of that kind lead the list — without hiding anything else:
- from Clients, matching clients appear first;
- from Projects, matching projects appear first;
- from Tasks, matching tasks appear first.
Searching "Acme" on the Clients page puts the client Acme at the top, with any related projects and tasks right below. On pages without a dominant kind (the dashboard, settings, reports), results keep their normal relevance order.
Finished tasks and completed projects still show up — often what you're looking for is already done.
Opening a result anywhere
Choosing a task, project, or client opens it in the side panel on the same screen — you never lose your place. So you can be on the Clients page, search for a task, and read or edit it in place without navigating away.
What you can see
Search only ever shows you what you already have permission to see. If you don't have access to a project, neither it nor its tasks appear — search never reveals something outside your reach. It's always scoped to your active organization and never mixes data between organizations.
In this version the list of pages in search is a curated set of the main destinations. A brand-new page may not appear in search until it's added.
