Team members
Manage who belongs to your organization, change member roles, and understand the rule that always keeps one owner.
Overview
The Members page lists everyone in your organization alongside their role. From here, owners and admins invite new people, change a member's role, and remove people who should no longer have access.
Open it from Settings → Members in your organization.
Roles
Every member has one role in the organization:
Owner
Full control of the organization. Owners manage members and organization settings. An organization always keeps at least one owner.
Admin
Manages members and most organization settings, but is not protected by the last-owner rule.
Member
Standard access to the organization's work, without member-management permissions.
Accepting an invitation
When someone invites you, you receive an email with a link to join the organization. Opening it takes you to an acceptance screen showing the organization's name and logo, where you choose Accept or Decline.
Open the invitation link. If you do not have an account yet, create one — the sign-up form arrives with your invited email already filled in.
Sign in as the invited address. If you are signed out, you are sent to the sign-in screen first and returned to the invitation right after.
Accept or decline. Accepting adds you to the organization with the role the inviter chose; declining dismisses the invitation.
An invitation belongs to the exact email address it was sent to. If you are signed in as a different account, the screen tells you which address the invitation was meant for — sign in as that address to accept it.
Invitations that were already accepted, declined, cancelled, or that have expired no longer open an acceptance screen; you are taken to your organization list instead. Ask the inviter to send a new one.
Changing a member's role
Open the members list. Go to Settings → Members.
Pick a new role. Use the role dropdown on the member's row and choose Owner, Admin, or Member. The change is saved immediately.
Removing or leaving the organization
Use the ⋮ menu at the end of a member's row to Remove member. On your own row the same menu offers Leave organization. An organization always keeps at least one member, so the last remaining person cannot remove themselves.
The last-owner rule
An organization must always have at least one owner, so the last owner is protected:
- While two or more owners exist, any of them can be demoted to Admin or Member, or removed from the organization.
- When only one owner remains, that owner's role dropdown and their Remove / Leave options are disabled, with a short note explaining why.
Need to change the last owner's role or remove them? Promote another member to Owner first. With a second owner in place, the options become available again.
This rule is enforced on the server, not just in the screen. Even an automated or external change that would leave the organization without any owner is rejected.
